Micki Lucas, MA, LMHC
I have a bachelor’s degree in social work from Stockton State University in Pomona NJ and a master’s degree in mental health Counseling from City University in Bellevue WA. I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist through the WA state Department of Health. I have over 15 years of experience in varied mental health counseling settings that include community mental health and the Department of Corrections. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapys, Motivational Interviewing, and Suicide Assessment and Treatment.
I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist. I tailor interventions depending on my clients' needs at the time. I like the flexibility of being able to meet the client where they are, as I believe this best serves the client in the realization of therapeutic goals. My treatment modality is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I work with you to identify the beliefs, thoughts and feelings that lead you to behaviors that you may want to change or stop. I also utilize other treatment modalities in order to individualize your therapy sessions. I am interested in your family of origin and psychosocial development. I am also interested in your emotional processes and how these can affect your daily life. I employee techniques that include: journaling, skill building, role playing, process letters, selected reading, and assessment tools. These methods are intended to help you to facilitate healthy change and recovery.
I believe that every person deserves safety, dignity, and peace of mind. I am looking forward to working with people who are seeking to live their best life.
