Jennifer Kittleson, MA, LMHC
I am a licensed therapist with a practice dedicated to women who struggle with stress and anxiety and I have offices in Mountlake Terrace and Seattle. I received my masters in counseling in 1999 and have worked with adults and children in a variety of treatment settings in community mental health, private practice, and in research and alternative education.
I enjoy working with clients to build healthy relationships, to better cope with anxiety, depression, and life transitions. My early years in mental health were spent with children and families and this time led me to a deep appreciation for developmental attachment theories. Attachment, cognitive and existential theories all inform the work I do with clients. I like to weave together an insight oriented approach along with practical tools for regulating mood and improving quality of life in the present moment.
My hope in any session with a client is to listen with an openness and genuine acceptance and over time to build a relationship that is grounded in trust. Changing behavior, ways of thinking or ways of relating to others is hard work. I like to create the kind of alliance with my clients that allows them to be vulnerable and try out new ways of being or looking at their story. My style in session is warm and relaxed and my aim is to allow room for full expression of feelings. For more information about my practice please visit my website at www.respirecounseling.com
