Evelyn Mercier, MSW, LICSW
Seeking a therapist affirms movement toward wholeness and well-being. My work is based on the idea that we can all be and feel good about ourselves, have happiness and healthy relationships. However, there are times when we feel stuck, discontented, depressed and anxious; not living our lives authentically. I believe we have the capacity to find our own answers once we recognize the patterns and obstacles that hold us back. My job is to help you identify and move beyond these constructs so you can become your most authentic self.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in psychology both from the University of Washington. I have worked for twenty five years in mental health in the areas of psychiatric research, inpatient mental health and, for the past eleven years as a therapist to adults experiencing a variety of mental health and life concerns. My clinical specialties include adults in transitions of all kinds, grief and loss and relationships. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar spectrum disorders and psychosis. My approach is person-centered, strengths based, collaborative and focused on the recovery of the whole person. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Therapy, Mindfulness Theory and Practice and many other therapy modalities. My clients are people of all walks of life who are ready to experience greater harmony and empowerment in their lives.
As an older adult I have traversed many of the ups and downs of life and have personal understanding of relationships, divorce, parenting, individuation, and transitioning into the joys and hardships of the senior experience. I have a passion for joining clients in exploring all areas of their spiritual paths as well.
I dearly love the work that I do and I am honored to be trusted with all that makes each individual uniquely who they are.
