Alyson Boness, MS, LMHC
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have been living in Washington State for the past 3 years. I am originally from Wisconsin and received my of Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mount Mary University in 2016. I have worked in mental health with clients at the residential, inpatient and partial hospitalization levels since 2010. The majority of my therapeutic experience is working with people suffering from eating disorders, anxiety disorders, hoarding disorder and PTSD.
As a therapist, I gravitate towards using a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach. I feel that CBT can help us understand how our emotions, thoughts and behaviors are all interconnected and that they affect each other. With this being said, I also use aspects from other approaches to help find an individualized approach that works for my client. I aim to have a therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty and non-judgment. I want you to know that you have input into your care and I hope to foster an environment where individuals feel comfortable speaking openly about what has been helpful and not so helpful.
As scary as the move halfway across the country was, I am happy to be in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle is a city I fell in love with 10 years ago and feel lucky to now call it my home. I enjoy camping and hiking around the state as well as exploring various places around the city with friends. Family and friends are very important to me and I try and spend as much quality time with them as I can. I also love animals and have a 7 year old cat named Luna. I hope in the near future to adopt a dog (who will also be named after a Harry Potter character) and potentially train them as a therapy dog to help support individuals as well.
