Hello! I am a clinical psychologist who has been licensed in Washington State since 2009. I obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology at the University of Central Florida in 2000 and obtained my Doctorate of Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 2006 with a concentration on Health Psychology. I provide individual psychology to adults ages 18 and throughout the lifespan. I am proficient in working with individuals suffering from a variety of mood disorders including, but not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, and PTSD. I also have a passion for working with individuals struggling to manage chronic medical ailments, such as cancer, diabetes, and chronic pain. In addition to individual therapy, I also provided pre-surgical evaluations for bariatric surgical procedures, pre-surgical evaluations for spinal cord stimulators, and cognitive screenings.
I grew up in Miami, FL and was raised with my parents and three younger siblings. Growing up I witnessed the strong work ethic of my parents, as well as the strong sense of family that was primarily cultivate by my mother. During my adolescent and teenage years, I had an infinity for being able to listen to people’s troubles and offer support to them. I was a very good student and athlete which allowed me to be able to relate to a variety of different people. Also, growing up in South Florida provided me with the opportunity to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, which is something that I place great value on. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to play football at the University of Central Florida. My time at Central Florida played a significant role in molding me into the person that I am today, as well as placing me on the trajectory of working in the field of health psychology. During my doctoral training, I received great experience treating various mood disorders, as well as providing therapy in various treatment settings to individual struggling to manage acute and chronic medical ailments. As a result of my training I am very proficient in working with individuals with traditional mental health conditions, as well as individuals with co-occurring mental health and medical conditions.
I am guided by the principle that every client deserves to be treated with the upmost respect and dignity. I work diligently to ensure that I am providing the most clinically and ethically appropriate treatment possible. I approach therapy as a collaborative process in which the client and therapist work together to help the client achieve his or her stated goals. In order to ensure that this process takes shape I consider the client’s past experiences, cultural considerations, current emotional and mental responses to stressful situations, and motivation to achieve the stated goals of therapy. I utilize various evidenced based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Existential Therapy, Motivational Enhancement approaches, and Mindfulness Based approaches. I believe that every client is capable of learning tools and strategies to improved their overall level of functioning and enhance their quality of life,.
