Jewel Peot, PhD, LICSW, RYT-200
“Inhale. Exhale. Repeat.” Simple things help us focus while the perspective of another gently reminds us who we really are. As a provider of mental health services for over 30 years and a middle-aged woman, I am able to provide insight through both my professional and personal experiences.
My therapeutic techniques are based primarily in the mindfulness model. As we partner together in therapy, I will offer different perspectives to help you remember who you really are and what you need, in order to move in the direction you wish. Having recently moved from the Big Island of Hawai’i, I am sensitive to contextual implications of perspective, particularly surrounding the impact of your immediate environment, your belief systems, and your cultural identification.
Education and Certifications
I hold a PhD in Psychology from Capella University, a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Washington, and a Bachelors Degree of Science in Psychology from the University of Oregon. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Hawai'i (LSW), Oregon (LCSW), and Washington (LICSW). I also have experienced and am licensed as a mental health investigator and examiner in Oregon State.
Additional certifications include EMDR, yoga teacher training (200 RYT), yoga philosophy immersions, advanced diver, and mountaineering. I have over a hundred training hours toward certification as a registered play therapist.
My experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults, individually and in groups, and within families. What I have learned most is that my academic inclinations and experiences are not what define me: it’s who I am as a person that has the greatest therapeutic effectiveness. I look forward to meeting you.
