Emily Patrick, MA, LMHC
Welcome to my practice. I know that taking the first step to therapy can be scary. I want to create a safe space for my clients to feel comfortable opening up and exploring what issues are bringing them in to therapy. I have experience working with a wide variety of clients from many different backgrounds. I enjoy getting to know the client as an individual and use a wide range of techniques specific to that individual as I believe therapy is not a one size fits all process. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Object Relations Theory, as well as many others. My Specialties include anxiety, depression, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, grief and loss, family of origin issues, couples therapy, relationship issues, boundary setting, mothers of young children, adolescents 16 and up, and adults. I like to keep an open mind as to what will help the person I am working with and allow the process to unfold naturally. I look forward to meeting you going through this process with you.
Background & Training
I attended graduate school at Antioch University in Seattle, WA where I earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology in 2010. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Washington in 2006. I obtained my license in Mental Health Counseling through the state of Washington in 2015 (#LH60555425).
During my Master’s program with Antioch I completed my internship at Catholic Community Services where I worked with children and families in the office setting, as well as in their homes, and at a local school. I provided therapy to the children as well as their families (parents and siblings). I focused on play therapy rather than traditional counseling as this was the best way to connect with the children. I also worked with a wide variety of clients whose backgrounds were very different from my own, requiring me to explore new techniques and learn more about the cultures I was working with.
After graduation, I worked as a clinician for two years in an Intensive Outpatient Program with Compass Health. In my role as a clinician, I carried a caseload of 15-18 adult clients who live with severe and persistent mental illness. I assisted them with a variety of tasks including obtaining benefits, looking for housing, coordinating with doctor's offices and taking clients to these appointments, as well as providing counseling for those who were able to. I took over as the program manager of that program and was in that position for 5 years. In that role I supervised 6-8 clinicians at a time, conducted mental health assessments, reviewed referrals to determine program eligibility, and managed daily happenings of the program.
Personally, I am married and have two children and two dogs. I enjoy reading, crocheting, getting outside with my family, and exploring new ways to work with my clients.
I have met the requirements in the state of Washington to provide clinical supervision to licensure candidates. I will work consistently with you to reach your professional goals and gain licensure in a timely manner. I want to be able to have a collaborative experience to help you learn and grow as a clinician. I can provide a weekly space. I charge $100 per hour for clinical supervision.
