Christina Yranela, MSW, LICSW
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) with an office in Mountlake Terrace, WA. I received my Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington in Seattle.
My Clinical Approach
My intention is to assist others in understanding their unique strengths, allowing each person to focus on what they feel is most meaningful in their lives. I understand that people are capable of the change they seek. At times, a person may be facing emotional scars, addiction, and/or trauma. My therapeutic approach is based on a variety of modalities, including cognitive behavioral and mindfulness which allows for flexibility to work alongside individuals and couples with a range of needs.
Growing up, I learned my father to be the hardest worker. Working three jobs, he had instilled values such as resilience and care for others. Yet, my family’s experience of trauma and addiction had darkened some victories. Emotional pain had become empowered and had begun to carve into our tough economics.
Feeling vulnerable as a young person had complemented my path ahead as a therapist and clinical social worker. My background earlier on to now has deepened my dedication to live my life according my values — self-compassion, connection, and growth.
Professionally, I graduated with a Bachelors in psychology from the University of Washington and Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington. I also began practicing mindfulness and have a interest and experience in movement arts, music, and nature.
My recent training includes working with elders providing intensive case management and mental health outreach in the community. These experiences have given me a great deal of experience with the developmental issues of transitions in aging, and complex suffering. I have also worked with parents seeking help towards reconciliation with their children, and have provided supportive coaching to people with serious mental health needs or disabilities.
I look forward to taking this journey with you.
