Cheryl Cooke, PhD, DNP, MN, ARNP, PMHNP-BC
I am a board certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and am licensed by the State of Washington as an Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington Bothell, and earned a Master of Nursing in Care Systems Management, a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health from the School of Nursing at the University of Washington. I am trained in psychiatric mental health nursing across the lifespan, and therefore work with individuals between the ages of 8-80.
As a nurse practitioner, I provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental illness, prescribe medications, evaluate medication effectiveness, and make referrals for additional care services, when necessary. I particularly enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression, as there are many types of treatments that can be used to help improve these conditions. I believe that medication is best used in conjunction to movement, meditation, and activities that promote mindfulness.
I work in a holistic, collaborative way with my clients, listening closely to their stories and experiences, and work with them to develop mutual goals and a meaningful, evidence-based treatment plan. Besides medication management, when appropriate, I used mindfulness training, goal setting, and will work with you to develop other long-term strategies for managing your condition. I am familiar with the challenges experienced by communities of Color, with those working in academia, with women at all major transitions in life, and with those individuals experiencing parenting and relationship challenges. I look forward to working closely with you as we develop a pathway forward to improved health and confidence.
