therapy Practice and Approach
Therapy is embarking on a journey, and you are the hero of your story. With this in mind, I help my clients by creating a safe space for sharing experiences, compassionately listening, and promoting empowerment to help you face your challenges and move forward. In meeting with you where you are at in your journey, I will help you to develop your own set of skills to help you through your day-to-day experiences, including your favorite activities, relationships, and responsibilities. Even though painful experiences are inevitable, I believe that suffering does not have to hold us back from living.
I work with adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, concerns with life transitions, codependency and relationship concerns, grief and loss, and various life challenges. My practice involves using an eclectic approach based on your needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Treatment, Trauma-Focused Interventions, and Mindfulness.
I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, within a family that faced significant challenges throughout my childhood, resulting in my mother working long hours to help ensure our family had everything we needed. As a result, I became the family caretaker, assisting in raising my brother and assisting with whatever was needed. I became motivated through my own challenges with trauma to transform my life to where it became enjoyable and exciting again. Growing up in a family of nurses, I learned very early that we all face challenges in this world and need the support of others to continue to move forward. Thus, I sought a career through which I could assist others through their own transformation process.
During my time as a social worker in Las Vegas, I worked toward promoting independence and coping with life transitions with older adults those challenged by disabilities through my work in skilled nursing facilities. I began working in the community with children and adults, including providing therapy, basic skills training and psychosocial rehabilitation to teach my clients living skills and coping strategies to improve their ability to function in their world. In 2013, I achieved my dream of living in the Pacific Northwest and moved to Washington, working in community mental health and crisis services.
I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you in your journey.
